The information we use and where we get it from

We collect and process various types of personal information, including basic information such as name and contact details and information about financial circumstances, accounts and transactions. Most of your information will have been provided by you, your company website or other electronic data messaging services you use to make information public, Companies Houses, your advisors or bank or created through the services we provide.

In order to protect us or you, for example to prevent fraud or to provide you with our services, we may also process certain specific categories of information, such as information about your style of management or other personality characteristics.

Where permitted by law, we may process information about criminal convictions, or offences and alleged offences for specific and limited activities for specific and limited activities and purposes such as to ensure we comply with the law on which we are governed.

Your rights

You have a number of legal rights to control what we do with your information. For example, you can ask us to tell you what information we have about you and to get a copy of it; correct or update information that is wrong; stop using your information in certain circumstances; stop sending you marketing material; or send some of your data to someone else for them to use. How we use your information

We use your information mainly to provide you with services, to understand our clients’ needs and improve the services we offer and for the day to day running of our business. We also use it to comply with laws and regulations that apply to us and to protect our business, our clients and employees. Sharing your information outside of Hanlon Corporate Advisory Ltd.

We keep your information confidential and will only share your information outside of Hanlon Corporate Advisory Ltd for the purposes mentioned in our privacy notice. This may include sharing with third parties such as service providers, banks and financial institutions who are regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority, private equity funds, your other advisors such as Accountants, Tax Advisors, Solicitors or other such companies required for us to undertake our services.  We may by law also be required to share your information with law enforcement agencies, government departments or regulators. The purposes of the processing is to assist in the delivery of the services we are engaged in with you, your client or with whom we are in discussions with regards to the provision of services. We will also hold your details for the purposes of introduction of business be that us introducing business to you or you potentially introducing business to us.

Transferring information overseas

Most of the information we hold on you will be used and stored in the UK. However, we used cloud based services with well known and recognised international companies.  These companies may not be based in the UK.

We will make sure that any transfer to another country is legal and that your information is kept safe. See section 8 of our full private notice (Transferring of information overseas) for more details.

Marketing

Unless you have told us not to, we may send you marketing information relating to services that we think will be of interest to you and relevant to you. Hanlon Corporate Advisory Ltd will not share your information with third parties for their marketing purposes without your permission.

Communicating with you

We use the contact details you have provided to us to keep in touch with information relevant to the services we provide, including email, text, phone and post.

Credit reference & fraud prevention agencies

When you apply for a service we may request information about you from credit reference agencies and we will explain the details and what that means for you when you apply for our services.

By law we are also required to share data with enforcement agencies in order to prevent fraud and money laundering, as well as to manage our risk and protect our business and to comply with laws that apply to us. If we identify or suspect fraud or any criminal activity we will record this with fraud prevention or law enforcement agencies to prevent a crime including fraud and money laundering, and we may refuse to provide you with services.

Enforcement and fraud prevention agencies and credit reference agencies use and share information with other organisations because they have to act within the law also and protect their businesses.

How long will we keep your information

We don’t keep your information for longer than we need to, which is usually up to six years after the relationship with Hanlon Corporate Finance Ltd ends or six years from your last point of contact with us, unless we are required to keep it longer (for example due to a court order or investigation by law enforcement agencies or regulators).

Security

We are committed to ensuring that your information is secure with us and with third parties who act on our behalf. We use many tools to make sure that your information remains confidential and accurate and we may monitor or records calls, emails, texts messages, or other communications in order to protects you and us.
